Brittany Cox


Brittany joined the SVHS T&F coaching staff in 2018 after a successful 2 year hurdling campaign at Ventura Community College, which followed a 4-year track career at Simi Valley High School. 

Currently studying Psychology at CSUN, Brittany coached junior Riley Hunt to a 3rd place finish at the 100th Anniversary of the California State T&F Championship in Clovis, CA.   

Nicole Haider 
High Jump

Coach Nicole began track and field as a youth with the Santa Clarita Valley Athletic Association (SCVAA) first competing in the high jump as a Bantam. She competed alongside her brother and sister at Alemany High School but did not pursue it in college.

She coached high jump with the Running Rebels from 2002-2008 when her daughter Natasha competed and then at Chaminade High School in 2009.

By 2011, She had joined our coaching staff and has enjoyed the enthusiasm and reward that comes from coaching a great bunch of kids.

Amanda Hamilton
Long Jump | Triple Jump

Amanda joined the SVHS T&F coaching staff in the fall of 2016 after a very successful high school ( for Simi Valley HS ) and college ( CalLu ) career. Amanda is the current SVHS T&F triple jump record holder with a high school lifetime best mark of 39'09".

She's also is the 300m Hurdles record holder (44.09) and owns or is part of 5 school records in total and played a major role in the 2012 girls team of Baxter, Haffar, Hamilton, Richards, Shelly and Weldon that won the CIF Southern Section Division II Girls Championship. She wrapped up a very successful high school career by being voted the Ventura County Female Athlete of the Year her senior year at SVHS.

At CLU, Amanda was a 3-time conference champion in the triple jump and a 2-time NCAA All-American. She was the CLU senior athlete of the year and a NSCA a All-American in 2015. She's also #2 in career points for CLU.

Randy Jones

Randy joined the SVHS T&F coaching staff in 2011 when his daughter, Desiree, was a member of the team. Desiree went on to have a stellar high school career for Simi Valley including being a part of the 2011 XC State Champion team. Desires now runs for Chico State and Randy continues to work with the distance athletes.

Randy raced motocross from the age of 12 and at 15 started racing off road and still to this day you can find him in the desert racing. He has also raced XC mountain bikes competitively. 

His true talent is apparent at the many track meets Simi Valley hosts where Randy runs the the Staging area keeping the meets moving and organized. Being self-employed allows Randy to spend as much time and energy on our program as he does and when it comes to energy, no one can match what coach Jones brings to the program.

Brooks Morris
Pole Vault

Brooks, a former 15' high school and 17'09" post high school vaulter himself, has coached some of Southern California's best pole vaulters.

The owner of Lucky Strike Verticle Leap Alliance, Brooks coached Olympic Gold and Silver medalist and 3-time World Champion Bryan Clay and has worked with 12 NAIA All-Americans, 4-CIF Champions, 4 Los Angeles City section Champions and 2 NCAA D1 All-Americans. Brooks has coached at USC, Cal-Tech, Azusa Pacific and is a part of the USATF Pole Vault Development Staff as a Senior member.

He's been part of the Simi Valley T&F coaching staff for 6 years now and is the proud new father, along with his wife Elaine, baby Fisher.

Steve Ringgold
Head Coach, Sprints

Steve, Simi Valley Track & Field's head coach, is in his 13th year with the program. Originally from New York, Steve was a high school baseball player having never participated in T&F. Steve found track and field with his wife, Ann, when their son, Matthew, joined the Simi Valley Running Rebels youth track club as a 2nd year Bantam. 

Simi Valley high school needed a sprints coach when Matthew moved into 9th grade and Steve took the job. Matt went on to have an outstanding senior year where he was the Marmonte League Champion in the 100m, 200m and Long Jump going undefeated in league competition.

Matt has since graduated (class of 2011) and Steve continues coaching focusing on making Simi Valley high school THEE destination school for high school T&F. 

Coach Steve is a USATF Level I certified coach and spent a week in Seattle during the summer of '16 working with some of USA's best sprints coaches at the USTFCCCA Sprints, Hurdles & Relays Specialist Certification course.

Mike Torie
Shot Put | Discus

Coach Torie, originally from Marysville, WA, is one of the most sought after throws coaches in Southern California. With a B.A. in Physical Education and a M.A. in Education, Mike was a 2-time State medalist, 5-time league champion and 3-time district champion. 


In college he was a 5-time conference champion, the '09 Kansas Relays Discus champion, NAIA National All American ('09)  (3rd at Nationals) and is the Lindenwood school record holder in the discus (58.31m/191'4").


His post collegiate career ended with a Top 25 USA ranking 5 years in a row (2 top 10, 3 top 20), Top 100 ranking in World 5 years in a row, '13, '14, and '15 USA nationals participant and a 2016 US Olympic Trials participant. Mike's life time best in Discus is 63.12m (207'.09").


His coaching achievements are just as impressive with a 2018 California State 4th place finisher (SVHS T&F's Dexter Stephens), a 2012 SVHS T&F Marmonte League Championship Discus sweep, 15 league champions, 7 Ventura County champions, 5 CIF champions, 2 CIF masters champions and 5 State Medalists.

Abi Walker
Head Coach | Distance

Abi caught the running bug post high school and college and is now a competitive Triathlete, Marathon & 1/2 Marathon runner and is our head coach for the distance program.

Coach Walker was a 2015 Ironman All World Athlete where she won a Bronze medal and ran the 2015 Ironman Oceanside 70.3. Also in 2015, she placed 8th in her age group at the Ironman Lake Tahoe 13.1 which is her PR. At 2015's LA Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon she was the 11th overall female finisher coming in at 1:38, a PR. In 2016 she ran the Ironman St George 70.3 North America Pro Championships and the Ventura Marathon Boston Qualifier placing 4th in her age group in 3:32, a PR.

When not training or coaching, Abi is with her husband, Will and their 4 children and is currently eyeing several Ultra races in 2019 - 2020.
